Just for the record, the producers did plenty to verify facts, and
the losses were real. Although a court found Ms. Winfrey within her
rights to say what she did, it does a disservice to trivialize the
very real concerns and losses of the beef industry.

As a commodity producer myself, I am very sympathetic to the losses
producers face when the media presents untrue or biased reports of
dangers associated with their crops. Apple producers lost millions
over the Alar scare, and grain farmers stand to lose money over
unfounded paranoia about seed varieties. While speech may be free,
the consequences arent, and in many cases, the speaker isn't the
person paying the bill.

That said, did anyone notice whether any of the press photographers
covering the Winfrey vs farmers trial were using OM bodies and Zuiko
glass?
