The way I interpret Gary's tests of the 85/f2 is that the MC version in
particular might be optimized somewhat for the f4-8 range of stops, which
makes it rather good for portraiture, especially handheld portraiture, and
for handheld work, as others have noted, the 85's utility is extremely fine.
