Dear Ebay lovers/haters,
Seeing Nikon Dave Mentioned again, I thought that there
might be interest in some correspondence I had with him.
I have been trying to complete my collection of schematics for most of the OM
series cameras for some time so I wrote to him asking what he would charge
for some specific OM service manual copies. These items were not listed on
ebay. I got what looked like a partially automated response. He said he has a
catalog operation selling legal copies of service manuals. It sounded like
this was aimed at service proffesionals (?) He offers ebay auctions at a
reserve price something like 100wer than his catalog list. He will
generally offer you the same lower price if you deal with him via the web and
do not telephone order. He said I should cut and paste the prices quoted to
me in his email to assure the price if I web ordered.
So his auctions probably often go for more than his normal list and
certainly no less than you could get without any auction but by direct
inquiry through email.
