[OM] Brassing

After all this talk on brassing I decided to examine my OM bodies. I bought
the OM4 new
about 12 years ago and it does not show any brassing that I can notice except
the rewind
button. My OM3 was purchsed used about 7 or 8 years ago and it has some normal
light
brassing around the strap rings. I've also noticed brassing on the base of the
lens mount
. It seems that my left hand thumb and index finger rest there and are
probably responsible
for this brassing. The OM2s has almost no noticable brassing anywhere. I
bought it used
about 10 years ago in mint condition. It normally is used on the VST Macro
stand and with
the bellows and ring flash. I have noticed some brassing on the rewind button.
 I've never
really understand why some used OM black bodies show so much brassing all over.
 My guess it
might be that differnet people's skin has a different chemistry which might
cause the black
paint to rub off. Also I've noticed that my OM4 seems to have a slight
different black
paint than either the OM3 or OM2s. The OM3 paint looks a little less shinny
than the paint
on the OM4. I've notice the paint on the new 4T's is a little differnt than
the older black
paint. Maybe it lasts longer.

I look at the very old OM1 and realized that this chrome body shows no sign of
wear
anywhere. I wish they would have stayed with this brushed chrome look. It
sure was
durable. Whose idea was it to paint these bodies black in the first place?
