You are, unfortunately for me, correct.

Hmmm - I've noticed that the sensor on the 433D is so low that
sometimes when I shoot vertically, my finger can block the sensor,
and the sensor is also blocked by very large lenses (i.e. my
300/2.8). I prefer the placement of the sensor on the 283, which
keeps fingers and lenses from blocking it.
