Other than Arca -Swiss, most brands have more than one plate. Bogen must have
about five different plates. The rational is that different sized equipment
needs different sized mating surfaces. A small plate on a large view camera
wouldn't be very stable, and a big plate on a 35mm SLR would protrude too much.
Actually this is just what Bogen hex plates do, protrude too much. Really Right
Stuff makes plates using the Arca-Swiss QR standard but in different sizes that
closely match the contour of the equipment. They also have anti-twist stops.
This is only possible because Arca-Swiss uses an open-channel clamped-jaw system
rather than a fixed cavity clamp.

Is there a standard for WR plates within a brand, say Bogen or do they
come in different flavors as well? What's the reasoning behind it?
