Went out owl shooting after work...

A friend has discovered a great horned owl chick under a juniper tree on
his property. The chick fell out of the tree about a week ago,
apparently when some thunderstorms rolled through and destroyed the
nest. The little fellow is doing well, under the watchful eyes of my
friend and the parents. The parents are feeding him nice juicy mice
each evening; he is now the size of a small cat, but still all gray down
and beak. He is beginning to toddle around the base of the tree.

I spent a very pleasant 10 minutes shooting him with both 400s.
Marvelous, intelligent yellow eyes....I made a point of not staying
long, though he seems accustomed to my friend. Thanks, Gary F. for the
suggestion of using a 7 mm extension tube to allow use of the OM 1.4x-A
with the Sigma - works beautifully.

We went back at dusk and waited for momma owl. After a while, she
appeared like a ghost, in the top of a nearby oak. Too dark, and too
far for pictures, but what a wonderful experience.

No particular OM content, just wanted to share the moment...
