The OM2S, OM4, OM4T and OM-PC (I think) have mirror pre-fire, which means
that the mirror comes up to its rest at the beginning of the self-timer
cycle. At the end of this cycle the shutter opens and closes. The OM1 does
have mirror lock-up, which is done by means of a small lever on the
camera-body near the lens. The OM3 and 3T have neither mirror lock-up or
mirror pre-fire(via self-timer) being entirely mechanical in their operation
(other than the metering systems.) The tests done by Gary Reese suggest that
mirror pre-fire might be better that mirror lock-up because the diaphragm of
the lens is shut down at the beginning of the self-timer cycle rather than
just before the shutter fires with mirror lock-up.
