You wouldn't believe the qualification process that flight hardware goes
through to get approval. Quite aside from tests for outgassing,
flammability, and the like, there's a VERY extensive series of tests run for
electromagetic interference generation. Those laptops are almost always
modified, if only a bit, to insure that no harmful EMI is generated.
Further, the exact EMI is quantified, both in intensity and frequency
profile, and specific frequency ranges are allowe essentially zero
interference. Finally, laptops for use during flight are only used on-orbit,
not during ascent and descent.

That something is allowed on the Shuttle during flight doesn't necessarily
mean that it's suitable for use on a civilian airliner during flight.
