Tom,
I'm kind of a prime lens fan myself, and avoided the mid-range zooms for
years thinking they would not be of similar quality..but last year I finally
got the 35-70 3.5-4.5 and I really like it. It's very sharp, contrast is
good, and makes a great walkaround choice. I think the price is certainly
right for the convenience.
