Maybe some of you have made a similar experience or upgrade...

CLEANING FUNGUS
---------------
This zoom has got a case of the fungus and I can't seem to get it apart to
clean it. From others' descriptions it seems to be a common sort of
construction.

I have removed the rubber around the zoom ring and managed to get three
small slotted screws out. But this didn't release the front fungussed
element. There are two holes which I can line up with two cross-head
screws that I think I need to remove but I can't get them to move. They're
not Philips or Pozidriv screws but have two flat-bottomed cross-slots.
What sort of screwdriver are you supposed to use? I've tried all my
flat-blade jewelers screwdrivers and either ruined them or I can't get
enough torque to shift the screws.

OR BUY ANOTHER LENS?
--------------------
It was not an expensive lens but manual focus stuff is hard to find now
(even 3rd party), so I'm thinking of a second-hand Zuiko replacement. But
I like the range 28-70 or 28-85 and with my standard 50mm lens and a 70-210
I have enough lenses to lug about in the normal kit and can cover most
needs.

So it seems I have to choose between #1) the 28-48mm f4 or #2) one of the
35-somethings.

What will I miss most - the 49-70mm range if I choose option #1, or the
28-34mm range if I choose option #2 ??

Thanks for any advice
best regds
