I have what looks like a metal lens cap but I remember that it was bought as
half of a pair of 49mm threaded caps (one male, one female) for duty as a
stacked filter set. Screw all your 49mm filters together and put the caps on
either end. Good idea in theory but you need conjuror training, a handy
table, or have three hands to remove one filter from the middle of the
stack, replace in the stack the one you've just removed from your lens,
screw the stack back together, and fit the new one to your lens - all
without spreading palm or finger prints all over them. It was even worse if
your set included free-rotating polarising filter mounts. Did anybody ever
master the technique?
