Simply for portraiture, I would suggest the 85/2,
since it is smaller and less 'intimidating'. Certainly
the 100/2 is a sharper lens, and has closer focusing
capability, but these properties are usually not
important in typical portraiture.

If you might also want to shoot the sharpest
landscapes, do astrophotography, commercial, or
medical photography, the 100/2 would be a superior
lens.

I have an 85/2 which I like very much, and though I
have a lens appetite which nearly matches that of Tom
Scales, I've so far resisted the temptation to go for
the 100/2. Its hard, though.....

Of course, if you get one for a good price on ebay,
then decide you want the other, you can sell it and
buy the other and not be out very much at all.
