You won't ever let a 21/3.5 go if you get one. It's so small (almost the
size of the 40/2), that it takes up virtually no room in your bag. As for
it's performance vs. the 21/2, I understand that it is very close in
performance, but 1.5 stops slower. I notice very little fall off at normal
apertures, and very little distortion.
(Do I dare say this?) IMHO, the 21/2 is overrated. Yea, yea, it's the
fasted 21mm available, bar none. But most 21's are used at 5.6 and below,
where there is little difference between the two lenses. It's also
expensive. The 21/2 has the floating element for improved close-up
performance, but I don't have any practical experience in that area, maybe
someone else does.
The bottom line is that I love my 21/3.5, and have NEVER been disappointed
with its images.
OTOH, If I had the chance to get a 21/2 at a good price, I'd certainly grab
it. (mandatory Zuikoholic content :-)))
