I did some searching on the web recently about that lens and it seems to be
a very good lens. You can check out this pictures, they were taken with the
auto-focus version of the lens:

I also asked 2 local dealers and they said it was an excellent lens. I've
bought one in mint- condition for 215 US$ but I didn't received it yet. The
new version sells for about 620 US$.

As far as I know, the Tamron is a very good lens. I think they have made 2
versions of it (manual focus), the newer a bit better than the old one, but
both very good. I think the price offered is OK, these lenses are not
cheap.
