[OM] Question about my OM-3Ti...

Subject: [OM] Question about my OM-3Ti...

I have a two-year old OM-3Ti that I have put about 20-25 rolls through
very happily. I was shooting the other day with it and I noticed
something I had never really noticed before. When changing the shutter
speed from 15th to 30th there is a very faint sound, similar to a
spring-driven gear spinning. The same sound is heard going from 30th to
60th, and it is slightly louder in that transition. There is a very
slight increase in the resistance of the shutter speed ring, not much
and certainly not a binding-up at all, just a very slight resistance
coincident with the slight noise. I am guessing that there is a separate
shutter governor being engaged when going from slow speeds to higher
speeds, and that maybe the sound / resistance is a result of some
engagement and/or disengagement related to switching speed-governors. I
am not sure if the noise / resistance has always been there or not as I
generally do not use the slower speeds and I also tend to shoot in
noisier situations.

My questions: do other OM-3's have this same 'symptom', and is it a
sign of a problem? I certainly cannot find any problem *now* as the
camera works perfectly and the shutter speeds are very precise. I am
more worried about it as a sign of future problems - I plan to have this
camera for at least 15 years (at the price I paid it should last 30!).

Thanks for any help,
-marc
