I saw a reference to an SLR in this issue earlier, and my copy fell through
the letterbox today. The lens seen in a photo on p76 bears some likeness to
OM one-touch telephoto zooms (very much like the 65-200), but it has some
lettering on the end of the zoom/focus ring. I don't know how anyone could
even begin to guess the provenance of the SLR body.

I also read the article on London, UK. Funny how the chap didn't mention
that there's always rubbish blowing around, the tube trains are crowded, and
the popular places are literally overrun by tourists. However, the portrait
of this busy capital city was not entirely inaccurate, and if you're a city
person (I most certainly am not) it is a fascinating place. Like all such
places, it often pays to get away from the crowds and interact with 'real
people', who will often respond to genuine interest. As the article points
out, it really is a cultural melting-pot, even though the majority appear to
be walking around with their mobile phones, clasping them like cranial
life-support devices. Photographs taken from the London Eye ferris wheel are
featured in a new UK monthly magazine, Outdoor Photographer, this month.
They were taken with a Hasselblad Xpan panoramic r/f camera. The London Eye
website is at www.ba-londoneye.com.

I had a good look at the map of the British Isles, which accompanied the
magazine. I smiled to myself, noting that Snowdon, in North Wales (see boyo,
Wales *is* an entity) is labelled "highest point in Wales". It is also
higher than anywhere in England, so is in fact the highest point in England
and Wales. If the weather is fair I will be off up the peaks in that area in
the coming week, with the OMs and my latest acquisition, a Stylus Epic.
