out of nowhere the idea came: why not use the center column of my 3221
tripod as a monopod? i was fairly certain it would come off the top if i
took off the rubber plug/allen-wrench at the bottom, and eureka! it
works! get a 3030 head in the bargain to boot ;) only thing is, it's
useful only if i am on my knees. gotta find a suitable extension so i can
use it while sitting on a bench--tripods not allowed during the Redlands
