For landscapes as viewed as background scenery seen from the road or a
train, yes, but what I like a wide-angle for is to show the foreground
terrain textures - what you're going to have to tread on, climb over, or
push your way through, if you want to explore an inviting landscape on foot.

In the UK at least, what often looks like soft rolling countryside in the
distance, turns out to be very different when trying to walk over it -
undergrowth tripping, barbed wire and thorns ripping, trees dripping,
squishy bogland oozing, ankle twisting stones, dead wood falling, and
sometimes it rains...
