Here's my "other" interests:

Alfa Romeos - have owned 3, currently have an '89 3.0L Milano Verde with
ported and polished heads, sport cams, higher compression pistons, etc.
A blast to drive, particularly on the track. Am searching for a '55-58
750-series Giulietta Spider...

Cycling - ride an older Kestrel 200 road bike (and yes, in the DFW area,
and I concur with the other comments about Dallas-area drivers lack of
respect for cyclists).

Rock Climbing - gotten into this with my 11-year old athletic twin
daughters.
Just returning from a week-long climbing/vacation trip to Colorado. This
is a great sport (and really not as dangerous as cycling in Dallas), very
physically and mentally challenging, and really fun to do with the kids.
Started at a rock gym, and are now doing outdoor lead/sport climbing.

Lots more, but these are the main interests...

- oh, and my vacation "kit" turned out to be too much.
Brought (2) 4T bodies, which was perfect, 24/2.8 (used a LOT), 35-80 Tamron
(again, used a LOT), 50/1.4 (should have left at home), 85/2, 135/2.8,
85-250/5, T-32, and a monopod. I could have left the 50, 85, 135 lenses at
home.

Mike

Sounds very familiar, Jay. I was a cycle commuter in Southern California
for many years and rode with a touring club in Mexico too. Did all my own
maintenance - still have the tools, in fact, like those skinny little hub
wrenches. Like you, I discovered upon moving back to Texas that there's
little regard for cyclists, other than as challenging moving targets.

Used to shoot high power rifle, various pistol matches and 10-meter airgun
matches too, 'til an annoying neurological condition made it impossible for
me to hold steadily enough to be competitive.

While the ham radio bug has never bitten, I've been a scannist and shortwave
listener for years. Before that it was motorcycles.

Guys and toys.

Hey, that'd be a good title for a musical parody...
