Seems to me that the problem Marc is describing is not the same as the
one mentioned by Tom. Marc is having trouble with the camera switched
to Manual mode - in Auto mode, it works OK. I suspect there's something
wrong with your shutter speed selector, Marc - maybe a bad connection,
due to disuse, that could be fixed by cleaning. You might like to try
turning the shutter speed ring back and forth a few times, through the
slow speeds causing the trouble, and see if that makes any difference
to the camera's behaviour in manual mode. If so, then cleaning may work
for you.
