These cells look legit', and prices are tempting. However, I must warn
everyone that past experience with Hg cells originating from mainland
China (most of them go via Hong Kong to Los Angeles or San Francisco)
is, at best, very inconsistent. Most of these cells' casings are
unmarked (markings appear only on packaging), and indeed many of such
cells were suspected to be alkalines in Hg "clothing".

Other cells exhibited abnormally high voltage variance right out the
box -- a clear sign of poor quality control. This is to be expected,
since unlike Varta, Duracell, Energizer, Sony, Panasonic, etc. most
Chinese battery manufacturers are tiny "mom and pop" operations. All
this info. is culled from a fairly large sample of camera dealers in
Southern California, my former (and current!) stomping grounds.

Finally, US-based buyers should be aware of potential problems with the
Feds, when purchasing Hg cells which must be imported from abroad. The
US prohibits importation of Hg cells which are considered toxic, though
for a traveler it's ok to bring small quantities into the country, for
individual use.

WARNING!!! Shameless self-promotion mode ON:

Pls recall that I still have plenty of new, factory-fresh guaranteed(!)
PX625 (aka PX13) Hg batteries, made by Varta, Germany, which I continue
to sell to OLY list members for only US$5.00 apiece. These terrific
cells will rejuvenate your OM-1/OM-1N's, Olympus FTL's, Pen F/FT's, and
a variety of 35-series OLY rangefinders e.g. the 35RC, 35RD, 35SP, etc.

Of course, my Hg cells are already state-side, so no need to worry about
US Customs. Pls feel free to contact me off-list for further details.

Finally, these Hg cells will work just fine with numerous non-Olympus
cameras, but I wouldn't _dream_ mentioning any of them here :-).

Ok, shameless self-promotion mode OFF. :-) :-)

Cheers,

/Gary Schloss.
