The blinking in the viewfinder is controlled by the flash, not the 
camera. Except for some 2Ses, the viewfinder light is just a second 
LED for the flash. Olympus used a single LED for ready and confirm. 
Sunpak, as I read your description, chose to use separate LEDs for the 
two functions. Then they just ran the ready line to the pin on the foot 
rather than put a circuit in the adaptor which would combine the two 
signals in the way Olympus did.
