I once read an article from a 1930's photo magazine about handling this 
situation(tho not in color).

1). set the camera upon a sturdy tripod.
2) take a reading of the window and make an exposure of it based upon that 
reading.
3) go away and wait till the sun has left the area.
4) make a second exposure based on a meter reading of the interior.

with the appropiate filters and extreme patience this sould work.

Baring that just remember to bring plenty of flashbulbs (M-3B's).
