the full retail price would theoretically be if adjusted for inflation.
No one is gonna pay $308 for a lens like that, nor would a manufacturer stay
in business making a lens of that quality at such a price. Like almost
everything else, economy of scale changes everything.

Hoya.
According to this list, the Hoya 135 mm/f2.8 auto tele HMC came out in
1979.
It listed for $130. In 1998 it was worth $308.
