Thanks for that! That probably explains why I've had some unexpectedly
poor results with my recently acquired (and much cursed) SC 50/1.4 lens
when taking low light portraits at full aperture. I couldn't understand
why the main subject's face was often blurred, when I thought it should
be in focus, yet the back of the chair on which he/she was sitting was
clear (i.e. not camera shake). I'm going to get a better 50mm ASAP,
maybe a nice cheap MC 1.8 (I must be the only List member who doesn't
already own one or more of these!).
