Mike,
For TTL flash you do need an OM-2, 2n or similar camera.

For years macro, close-up, etc photography was done without TTL flash and it
turns out well. You just need to compensate for the exposure!
I believe it is Warren Kato that points out if the flash is mounted on the
lens near the subject that the exposure compensation is virtually totally
compensated for as you move/extend lens to the subject.

For a different method, take a look at the MFS-1 that attaches to Vivitar
flash units. It is a fiber optic set that gets very close to the subject
and then connects to the front sensor of the flash (3700, 4600, 5200, 5600,
maybe others). I bought one on eBay for $5, seen them often for ~$10 - list
was ~$50. Has a very well made tripod socket/shoe attachment that can have
multiple uses.

In Vivitar, take a look at the above flashes for possible further use in
TTL/OTF for future purchases. some use DM adapters, others use PM, but all
will get TTL.
Vivitar also makes the 5000 series ring light, not TTL.

Sunpak makes some great ring lights. Any of the DX series flashes will
accept the OT-1D OM adapter for TTL/OTF.

Hello All, I'm pretty new to the list, so forgive me if this has already
been covered, but I could find it nowhere in archives.

I'm shooting a pair of nice & minty OM-1's, One is a vintage OM-1 non-MD
chrome, and the other is a nice rebuilt OM-1 MD black. As far as I know,
however, they only accept accessory shoe 1, and the FP/X connector next to
the lense mount.

My Question is, since the OM-1 does have TTL metering, but not TTL/OTF Flash
Metering (like the OM2S program, OM3Ti, & OM4Ti), what (if any) flash setup
would be good for 1:1 or greater (macro) shooting with a)stacked lenses,
b)bellows, c)auto-extension tubes.

I know good results are being obtained with newer OM's using T-8's, T-10's,
and twin T flash mounts, but these are all TTL/OTF controlled flashes,
right? If so, can I still use them? How? And with what controller on shoe 1?

Also, I don't feel limited to Oly flashes, if there's another setup I could
manufacture/buy... feel free to let me know.

Thanks all,
-Mike
