Winter is turning out to have been more productive for me than summer here.
Tropical rain forest weather without the actual benefits of the forest.

I've been on vacation for a bit and have enjoyed the exchanges on this
thread. I hope you'll get around to trying it.

The western border of Iowa is formed by the broad tailwaters of the
Missouri. The river has been channelized and dammed in five places
(upstream from us in Montana and the Dakotas) since Lewis and Clark. The
enormous cottonwood groves that provided refuge for the men and replacement
canoes when needed were largely decimated (for fuel) during the steamboat
period when the Missouri was used for mass movement westward. The floods
of 1993 opened some side streams, which the gov has had the good grace to
leave as is, since the limited navigation of modern times is still possible
and the wildlife habitats are so desirable.
