Ken, even if you hate Apple computers, I think you should take a good look
at their current offerings, like the iMac DV. These can connect straight
to a digital camcorder with fire wire capability and I believe come with
video editing software loaded. I understand all the latest Apples have
been designed with digital video in mind. If you don't like the monitor
size of the iMac there is their latest model, a very slickly designed 8"
cube with no noisy fan but with G4 performance.
