OK, I'd have to step in and try to set some things straight. I am an
"old timer" that was on the list in the days when Paul ("They Olympus
Guy") Van Tuyl was also on the list. He is a great guy and no one
will disagree with that, but computers is not his greatest strength.

Back then, as is today, frequently people would ask about availability
of specific Olympus items. But instead of replying privately to the
inquirer, Paul would hit the reply button and announce to the whole
list "yea, I've got that". And that was the totality of his
contribution to the list. Unlike John H., Paul seldom contributed to
the technical discussions of the Olympus equipment. And after one too
many "yea, I've got that for sale" messages, people complained about
it on the list and Paul quietly dropped off.

I've spoken to Paul about re-joining the list, but he said he is just
too busy to read the emails that come around. He never actively
"advertised" on the list and he tried to be helpful. His heart was in
the right place, but like many of us, he hit the reply button too
quickly instead of sending private email (and those of you who have
sent personal messages to the whole list should know how easily that
can happen).

There is a big big difference between John H. and PVT. John runs a
business out of his home and has both the time and expertise to get
involved with the discussions on this list. Paul runs a business
that requires him to travel all around the country -- half the time
he is on the road. So he has very limited time to get involved with
the discussions on this list.

At this point, we should all know who The Olympus Guy is, and we know
how to get to his web page. So if there is anything anyone needs, we
know how to find Paul. Let's just leave him alone to run his great
business.
        -Dan
