I had one of the older Sigma 400/5.6 (not the newer APO model or eve newer
APO macro) and it compared directly in terms of sharpness and contrast to the
Zuiko 300/4.5 with 1.4X. However it was sharper and had more contrast wide
open (f5.6 vs f6.3 for the 300 X 1.4), was lighter to boot, and costs less
than the 300 + 1.4X combo. Then I got the Tamron 400/4 so I sold the Sigma.
