I didn't make that one but there was one in Birmingham, AL this weekend.
The interesting thing was the lack of OM equipment. I counted four 1's, two 2's,
two 2S's and two 4's and less than twenty lenses (Zuiko and non-Zuiko) between
the vendors. I had never seen a 4 before. Nice camera! Unfortunately there
weren't batteries in either so I couldn't check them out. Didn't matter though,
I couldn't remember how to tell the difference in the check beeps to determine
if they had the 'bad' battery drain or not, also the $499.00 (USD) price tag put
me off period.
A guy at the Wolfe camera booth told me that a Birmingham person native unloaded
his OLY equipment and that most of it went at a show in Mississippi the previous
weekend. Only the 4's and a few lenses were left. The Wolfe guy uttered this
quote- "He had most of the fast lenses." If the seller is a list member and has
any stuff left. I'm in Birmingham too! email me, call me or just stand outside
and fire a few frames. I'll hear it and find you!
I sort of told the Wolfe guy that his prices were too high. And he responded
"Yeah they are. It's just that Olympus is getting scarce, so we price at what
the market will bear." Just to prove his point, I redeemed a couple of gift
certificates, I received last Christmas and found during my last move, and
bought a 35 f/2.8 and a 75-150 f/4. The 75-150 replaces my original which has
element separation and fungus. Neither had cases and we dug through a lens cap
bin for original caps, at his instance I must add.
The only real find I found was an Eyecup 1 with a +1 diopter while digging
through an accessories bin at another vendor. I have been looking for one. And a
couple of Saunders easels for my darkroom/kitchen/laundry room.
