Mike -

This is a very common problem with the OM40/OMPC as it
ages. Unfortunately, there is no cure I am aware of as
it is a disease of the electronic circuits.

You can still use the camera, but you will have to
find at which shutter speed it starts locking open - I
have handled several that do fine as long as shutter
speeds are faster than 1/15 second.
