If it's slides, and you're thinking a Picture CD through Kodak Premium
Processing (aka KPP, aka Qualex), guess again! The *only* stuff Qualex
will scan to a Picture CD is 35mm or APS C-41 *color* negative. They
*won't* do it for the chromogenic B/W (B&W+400, T400CN or XP-2).

The *only* CD-ROM Kodak offers for *all* B/W or transparency is a Photo-CD,
or a Professional Photo-CD (includes another higher res scan). For *any*
film size other than 35mm/APS you it's *only* a Professional Photo-CD.

If you're doing it for web site photos, a Picture CD is fine. It has a
decent resolution 1536 x 1024 JPEG. However, if you're looking to print
some of them yourself, the resolution isn't enough (I think it's
deliberate). You need something on the order of the Photo-CD's 3072 X 2048
to get a 3-1/2 X 5, and the Professional Photo-CD's 6144 X 4096 for
anything bigger. BTW, if the cost of a Photo-CD made you gag, the Pro
Photo-CD is about $20 base for the CD and $5 per scan. Hmmm, a full roll
of 24 slides? Oh, about $140 - $150.

I've been down this path! Turned in a roll of Elitechrome 100 about a year
ago with the box requesting a Picture CD checked. The slides came back
with a note stating they could not do it, but would be glad to make a
Photo-CD for the princely sum of just under $50 for the 24 slides, if I
send them back in.

[Obligatory OM Content]
It's why I sometimes carry *two* OM bodies; one loaded with Kodachrome 64
and the other with Royal Gold 100 or Portra 160VC; to double shoot
everything I can. I don't mind switching primes in the field. Switching
out the primes from one body to the other on top of that is the real pain!
I guess I need a double set of all my Zuiko primes from the 18mm to the 300mm.
