Andrew,

It may be ther rear cap for the 135mm F/4.5 and the 80mm F/4 macro lenses.
Because of the protruding rear element. Have a look at:

About the 1.8/50-versions: There was a also change from the 6Element-5Groups
 to a  6E-4G design, but I dont`exacly know how to distingush them.
