I too carry a very small amount at any given time. Right now, my equipment
is display on a bookshelf, but dust is a problem, so I'll go the doors route
soon. I find myself gravitating to 'favorite' equipment, but try to vary it
a bit. I have a small bag/backpack (Tamrac 615) and a medium over the
shoulder (Tamrac 608), both of which I like and the decision depends on the
shoot. Two bodies, several lens = 608, One body and a few lenses = 615
backpack)

I own the huge Tamrac 614, but rarely use it. Loaded, I can barely carry
it! It's good for hiding all the extra equipment on the rare occasions that
my wife ventures into my home office though.
