Bumbags were originally used by alpine and crosscountry skiers to carry waxes,
odds-and-ends, etc. - I bought my first one in 1962. They are very useful to
carry things during strenuous activity, and are obviously most comfortable when
worn above the bum/fanny. I used to carry my Pen D, and later Pen F and FT in a
small bumbag when skiing......
By the way, an American company called Mountainsmith makes probably the best
bumbags in the world, with an advanced suspension/belt system (designed to be
worn behind....).
