I store most of my shorter lenses like this - i.e. my 75-150 and shorter. But I have used those adhesive pads which some use to stick things up on walls. The only problem is that if you don't check them in the bag, one will tend to work loose from the combo with the attendant risk of scratching the rear element.

BTW, I have just learnt from a US Army colleague that in the States "i.e." can be taken to mean "illustrating example". Here I use it to stand for "id est" which is Latin for "that is".

Please tell me if my US colleague is telling me Porkies (Porkie Pies = lies).

... just trying to save a little confusion ...

Anyone heard of anything similar that could be used for holding a pair of

I've seen the Leica piggy-back rear lens cap and it's a neat idea for
storing compact lenses like Oly wide angles. Easy to make. Get a couple of
cheap, generic caps - Tamron adaptall ones are good because they are quite
deep - and you can usually find them in dealers junk bins. Saw off the
closed ends and then sand them down flat. Then join the two open rings
together at the sawn ends with epoxy or an appropriate plastics adhesive.
You can now mount two lenses back to back and save space in the bag. Of
course, you don't have to saw off the ends - if using the more compact
original caps, just sand off the end to get a nice, flat surface.
