Of course, it will 'just open and close the shutter' if you just push the
shutter release down and let go. If you want extended exposures you'll need
to get a locking shutter release cable. Some cameras have a more elaborate
electronic mechanism that operate in a two touch mode (1 open, 2 close) but
the elegantly simple mechanical OM-1 needs your full attention from start to
stop. Now, if you've tried to hold down the shutter release and it still
shuts right away, you've got a problem...
