Hi Dan:

We've had lots of discussion on this in the past. Be sure and check the
Archives for a posting (and a repeat of it) where I reported the
differences in film reflectance between at least 15 different films. It
was significant. It is quite possible that there are now greater
reflectance differences than there were when the OM-2 was introduced,
thus making invalid an original design assumption of the OM-2. Any
camera using OTF metering is going to be affected by this.

To the best of my knowledge this issue hasn't been revisted in the
popular photography media. Keepler ought to do it before he retires. I'm
still waiting on him to address the issue of automatic diaphragm
vibration, something he has teased us about for decades but never
actually tested. Michael Johnson, you hear that? Popular Photography
shouldn't be the only publication willing to take it on.

Notice that when you pull a film leader out from the cassette how the
surface looks lighter. You will get a difference in reflectance between
the two, but it doesn't matter since no one would be able to take a
picture on film previously exposed to light.
