Sometimes yes, but I have shot on different apertures and shutterspeeds.
And with different cameras too.
Maybe the real difference is 1/4 and not 1/3, but I see the same difference
on all the lenses 1.4 vs the rest of lenses.

Did you check all the aperentures by the 1.4 vs 1.8 overexposure comparison
or only some?
I assume that you had the same camera and the same shutterspeed used with
the comparison
