I believe the OM 2 and 2n work the same regarding shooting with the meter
switch shut off. In his book THE OLYMPUS GUIDE Milton Heilberg indicatesthe
following :

2. Off-

    a. Cds shustiem inactive
    b. Shutter-speed scale and index marks are retracted
    c. Indicator needle inactive
    d. SBC system inactive but ready to become activated at the press of the
shutter-release button.
    e. SBC systme will not function properly at slow shutter speeds. Longest
shutter speed will be determined by the ASA setting (approximately 1/30 sec
for ASA 100.

If the system demands a shutter speed less than 30th of a second the shutter
will still fire at 1/30th. The SBC system is inactive until the
shutter-release is pressed regardless of which of the three positions the
On-Off switch is in. The final shutter speed is determined by the SBC
system.
