Yes that's the magnet in question.  Also found in the same place in the OM-g
and OM-10 type 2.  Original OM-10 is at the back of the shutter.

| if I look at the front of the lens mount of an OM-40/PC
| there is under the bottom of the mirror box on the left side
| a small electronical controled magnet
| is this the magnet which can get oily and can cause
| timing problems with the curtains ?
| If not, what's this for and where is/are the curtain magnet(s) ?
| Is the magnet at this place only a construction in the OM PC or
| roughly the same on every OM SLR ?
