The auto mode is just aperture priority (you set the aperture and the
camera sets the shutter speed). The program mode the camera sets both
the aperture and the shutter speed.
You can down load the manual and a copy of creative photography with the
OM2sp from a web site. I can't remember the url though. Use a search
engine on Olympus and you will find it.
