Dirk, it depends on what you mean by "own."
The Carl Zeiss Stiftung (trans: "Foundation") still owns the "Contax" name.
Kyocera, the parent of Yashica, produces the camera bodies and puts the
"Contax" name on them under an agreement with the Carl Zeiss Stiftung.
NOTE: The Carl Zeiss Stiftung is the parent of Carl Zeiss, Oberkochen, and
Schott Glass, Mainz.
This agreement with Yashica was negotiated and established at approximately
the same time the Carl Zeiss Stiftung closed Zeiss Ikon and liquidated
their assets ('twas a very sad day when Zeiss Ikon closed). Kyocera has
the equivalent of a license to use the name under terms of the agreement
between the two, but does not own it.
