I used to wear contacts all the time, before bifocals. Since bifocals,
carrying the reading glasses around is a real nuisance, so during the
week on the day job I wear the bifocals. HOWEVER, if I know I'm going to
be out shooting at the track for the weekend, (2 to 4 days), I pick up a
pair of the "disposable" contacts to wear for the weekend and carry the
reading glasses along so I can read anything I need to. (schedules,
driver lists, camera settings, lunch menus, stuff like that) After 2 to
4 days of heat, dust, fumes, etc. the disposables are generally ready to
be disposed of. Under "normal conditions" I can get about 2 weeks wear
from the disposables, but of course then you're back to carrying the
reading glasses.
Personally, I've heard lots of good things about the surgery, but I'm
staying away from it until someone can convince me there are no unknown
longterm ill effects. Now when they come out with AFFORDABLE bifocal
contacts that can also deal with the astigmatism in my right
eye.................
