Bored one rainy week end, so made a reversing ring from a spare body cap and a
defunct 49mm rubber lens hood. Got the pics back today, great results with
reversed 28mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.8 lens. Mounted various objects (small flower
heads, leaves etc.) on a home made Meccano (Erector) contraption which allowed
movement of the object for focussing ('cos can't focus with the lens).

For those interested in mutalating Oly (or other) parts:
Use a fret saw to cut the a hole from the centre from the body cap leaving the
thicker flanged part intact. File down the slightly embossed pointy arrow so
that it's flush. Remove rubber from lens hood (or I suppose you could use a
filter holder) - it needs to be 49mm. Take some brass (or other?) strip and
make it into a circle to fit within the recessed outer rim on the front of the
body cap. You should find that the female 49mm thread of the hood(filter)
holder fits losely round the brass ring - make the width of the brass strip
such that the holder is flush on the body cap. I used JB Weld (an American
product by gum), first to cement the brass ring to the cap and then plenty
around the brass strip before cementing on the holder. A bit of matt black
enamel when all is set hard and ... Voila! Solid as a rock.

Yes, I know I can buy one for around 20UKP but this was so much more fun and
satisfying!

In order to step down the aperature I used a small piece of card to wedge in
the slot against the aperature stopping down lever. I used an OM2N in automatic
mode so didn't need to know precisely what stop I was using - as long as it was
small to get the DoF). Remember to set the aperature ring to smallest stop
(like I didn't for the first couple of shots).
