Well, I've waited -- and a good thing came! Jakub's version of
the roll call is my favorite, because: (a) it doesn't clutter the
OLY list digest; and, more important, (b) unlike the other list
that has been floating around, this one does contain my name (yeah!).

(Hmmm, I must be in Sam Morales's kill file, because my submission
clearly contained "Roll Call" in the subject line.) Hey Sam, whassup
man? :-)

A few comments for Jakub:

(1) Nice job, pls continue!

(2) An alphabetical listing would be preferred. It would also help
eliminate the duplicates (e.g. Garry Lewis and Michael Stohulak(sp?),
maybe more.)

(3) I would agree that Canada deserves a separate category, because
(a) the OLY list server is located in Canada; (b) the unofficial OLY
photo gallery is also in Canada, and (c) those Canucks managed to
count 13 million ballots -- by hand(!) -- in less than 4 hours. :-)

(4) On the same principle, should the Dutch feel that they deserve a
separate category because of OM SIF, TOPE, or FvL's OM gear collection
which is probably the most comprehensive on this list, I'll support
them too. Same goes for Giles Stewart, Lee Hawkins, John Hermanson,
Gary Reese, and anyone else who selflessly contributed to our little
community, and feels like having a category all to him/herself.

P.S. A propos ballot counting, I have a brilliant idea for the Florida
Supreme Court. Why not invite the Canadian election workers down to
Florida for an all expenses paid weekend? This being December/Winter,
I can't imagine that any of them would miss a chance to spend a weekend
in the warm Florida sun (well, it's really Tallahassee, but the Redneck
Riviera is just a few miles away.) All they'd be required to do is to
spend a few hours counting by hand Florida's 6 million ballots -- piece
of cake for these Canucks! Moreover, their impartiality as to the
outcome would be undisputed. Heck, we could have this bloody mess
of an election resolved by next Monday! Hmmm, should I file a brief
with the Court? Nah, my idea probably makes too much sense ... :-)

Cheers,

/Gary Schloss.
