Yes - the 40mm Pentax Pancake that someone mentioned has a similar cult
status - it was supplied as a slightly more expensive option on the ME I
think but is now selling for over US$200 mint because, on an M series, it
drops in a pocket.
The 40mm makes a good 'tourist' compromise lens too, especially if it's a
lightweight - Leica put a 40mm as standard on the CL (Compact Leica) in the
'70's. Many 'point and shoots' have a lens around 38-42mm. Pentax have just
brought out an autofocus 'limited edition' version of the Pancake which is
nice - but is expensive and seems a bit pointless on a modern, very
uncompact wonderbrick.
Then , of course, there are those who must have one of EVERYTHING - dog or not.
Sigh.
