I think the one I use is bamboo.  Smells great when I ground it down.

| BTW, I think this chop stick is the "tensoge" type disposable (one 
| time use) chop stick made of soft wood (cryptomeria, or Japan 
| cedar). This should be much better for cleaning than hard wood, 
| bamboo, plastic, or metal Korean chop sticks.
